Arden Chambers dominates social housing law. We are responsible for all the major publications in this area (e.g. Encyclopaedia of Housing Law; Journal of Housing Law; Housing Law Reports; Manual of Housing Law; Homelessness and Allocations) and are habitually ranked as the leading set in both Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. Our members are consistently found in the higher courts dealing with social housing cases (both for landlords and occupiers). We are also active (and very well regarded) in related areas. Local Government and public law forms a large part of our practice and, again, we produce some of the leading texts (Encyclopaedia of Local Government Finance; Judicial Review). Many members also have significant landlord and tenant/property/planning law practices. We are particularly well-known for our long-leasehold work, with members responsible for two of the leading works (Leasehold Disputes; Leasehold Valuation Tribunals). A former member of Chambers is now the senior president of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). Other members are active in both the Housing Law Practitioners Association and the Property Bar Association. The focus on producing authoritative works stems from our history. We were established by Andrew Arden QC and six other current members 1993 in order to provide a specialist centre of practice for housing and local government law, based on the publications which Andrew authored or edited. Chambers is seeking two Pupils with an interest in our practice areas who are also prepared to devote part of their professional efforts to maintaining our portfolio of publications.
